About randomgauge

Andy Lockwood is a writer, an artist, and above all: a dreamer. He got his start in screenwriting and filmmaking where he discovered his obsessive love of storytelling. He is the author of two novels, Empty Hallways and House of Thirteen; a 12-part serial thriller, At Calendar’s End; and is a regular contributor to horror anthologies. He is always working on another piece of writing, whether it is a novel, a story, or something else entirely. When not slaving away at the keyboard, he spends his time buying books he does not have time to read, and delving into mediums he has no time to fully explore, but he dabbles in them anyway. He lives in mid-Michigan with his amazingly talented and entirely-too-supportive wife, a brood of cats, and a misguided idea of what it means to be an adult.

Ladies and Gentlemen…

Get your costumes in order, put out your jack o’lanterns, and get yourself settled in.

It’s going to be a dark and stormy night around here. The best time to settle in with a supernatural tale.

For those of you who have pre-ordered, you should already have it in your Kindle library. For those who didn’t, it’s far too late.

Fortunately, House of Thirteen is available in paperback and ebook right now.

Order now.

Enjoy – and Happy Halloween!

The long wait for House of Thirteen is almost over…

Actually… it IS over. Technically.Copy in hand

House of Thirteen, Book One is now available for pre-order for Kindle! The official release date is Halloween, but you can order your copy now to be delivered to your devices as your very own personal trick or treat from me. The book will also be available on Halloween, but those can’t be set for pre-order. If you are planning to buy the paperback, e-books will be automatically discounted for you to acquire the matching set.

Can’t wait for Halloween to get your reading fix? I also have a new story out in a horror anthology. Tales of Horror on Halloween Night – curated by the amazing Samie Sands – is out now for Kindle and paperback.

I hope your Halloween is going to be as exciting as mine!

One week away…

It’s been awhile since I’ve done an event. I have to say, I’ve missed them. They are a lot of fun, on both sides of the table. I love talking to people who stop by the table, whether they want to talk about my books, the magic of idea crafting, or the art of writing itself. I also really enjoy my boothmates. An event is really only as much fun as the people you surround yourself with and this time around, I’m pulling out all the stops.

September 13, in the Kerrytown district of Ann Arbor is the 13th annual Kerrytown Bookfest. Not only will I be there, but I will have books, and merchandise, and ye olde Bad Drawings sketch pad. I’ll also be sharing my space with fellow author J. Thomas-Like, who will also be offering her wonderful words to the masses. And right next door, I’m proud to say we’ll be neighboring with Kate of ChicalooKate – it promises to be some awesome fun YOU should be a part of!

I don’t want to ruin all the surprises, but I will say that this is the first time you will be able to purchase Empty Hallways and House of Thirteen notebooks and magnets!

Notebooks!

Glorious notebooks for all your writing wonder!

So happy about this post, I forgot a title…

House of Thirteen

House of Thirteen, coming very very soon.

House of Thirteen is in the hands of the beta readers. This is both a milestone of success and a stomach of butterflies for me.

Getting this book to a point of release this book has been harrowing, arduous, and – at times – almost not worth the effort. But here it is, and I am very (terrified) excited to see what the beta readers have to say about it.

Depending on how much work they think I still have, I may be able to push up my release date – which would be a first, really. 😉

But right now, I can say with confidence that House of Thirteen will be out in the universe by Halloween. What happens to it then is anyone’s guess.

There is no way to fully communicate the sensations I am feeling about this. It is my second novel, and the start of a monumental adventure in itself. It is exactly what I set out to write when I started, yet nothing I expected and so much more than I could have hoped for.

I hope it will live up to expectations, because it has already exceeded my own.

Mayday, mayday!

No, sorry. No emergencies here. I meant May Day… as in the first of May. So many good things are ramping up around here, that there needed to be some exclamation in the title, even if it was a little misleading. Continue reading

A Picture is Worth 1000 Words

Back in early March, I announced a fundraiser I was taking part in. Since then, the fundraising has continued and I am happy to announce that you – yes, YOU – can help, and help yourself… because who doesn’t like stuff? Continue reading

Write like you mean it…

A little over a month ago, my story Leave the Light On found its way to being published in the anthology Monster Attack along with a number of other horror stories. While it’s not really a profit endeavor that led to me publishing that story in an anthology, it’s not a move that hasn’t been good for me. Continue reading

It’s a new year, but they’re the same old tricks…

13 days into the new year, I thought I might finally weigh in. It’s been a while and I’m painfully conscious of that. I’m a bad blogger. Well, not bad, just inconsistent. And just like last year (heh) one of my numerous resolutions is to try to improve on that failing. Continue reading
